My number one activity for the holiday season this year is to not wear a watch or have my phone connected to me – bliss! I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into some reading while on holiday, and this year my top 2 books of the season are:

        • Emotion by Design – Creative leadership Lessons from a Life at Nike by Greg Hoffman (former CMO of Nike)
        • Influence is your Superpower – How to get what you want without compromising who you are –  by Zoe Chance

These holidays I’m looking forward to spending time with my family and travelling to Taupo. I am an ‘active relaxer’ which means I need to be doing something that “fills my tank” to feel relaxed – things like shopping, playing golf, and spending time in cafés with my favourite people are the things that I enjoy. Speaking of which, if you are passing through Taupo – definitely try an almond croissant from Café Baku!

Rightly or wrongly, this year I have chosen to relax by taking both of my young children camping in Motueka, which is at the tippy top of the South Island. It’s a beautiful place, plenty to keep the kids happy and lots of stunning beach and scenery for the adults. I’m not entirely sure how “camping with children” and “relaxing holiday” go hand in hand, but I’m certainly going to give it a go. And if it all turns to custard, I’ll have my favourite wine to hand – a French rosé: Chateau de Fesles Rosé d’Anjou.

Full transparency – I’m still busy reading the book I started last December! I’m just hoping to finish it THIS year. It’s called Skin and it is a very good thriller.  Nothing beats a book at the beach, and one of my favourite places to do just that is in a little hideaway called Ocean Bay in the Marlborough Sounds. The secluded beach is beautiful and peaceful. Being South African, I’m also looking forward to plenty of braais (BBQ) with family and friends during the holidays!
